Default Towing a camper

My family is planning a cross country trip this summer and were doing it in our 2 door automatic JK Rubicon with the soft top! I've traveled the country many times on my motorcycle, and now it's time to share all those great places with my wife and two kids.
We are looking for a 13' fiberglass camper like the Scamp. It weighs 1200lbs dry. Scamp also makes a 16' camper but it weighs 1750lbs dry. To be honest, the 16' trailers are much easier to find used than the smaller 13' camers, but I'm worried that the 16' will be a bit to much for the JK to pull comfortably for nearly 3 weeks of driving from our home in Maine to New Mexico and back. What do you think?
Anyone have experience pulling a small camper like the Scamp behind a 2 door JK? If so, how big was the camper and how was the drive? How was the gas milage effected? I should add that I use to drive tractor trailer, so Im not afraid of pulling, but I HATE being pushed down the road by a trailer that's too big for the tow vehicle.
I'd appreciate your thoughts AND any leads on a light weight, non-pop up camper!

I pull a 16' Scamp with my Unlimited with a trans cooler all the time without a problem. The two door does have a tow rating less than the Unlimited.

Default Small P-up no problem

A trailer less than 2000lbs will be no problem. I tow a 2200lb boat without trailer brakes with no problem stopping - but I am careful. My Jeep is an X with 3.73s and an auto with no others mods.
