This is exactly what I did with my '09 Rubi and doing the same on my '14 Rubi. Why does anyone need their vechicle to tell them the air pressure is low - especially with a Jeep where you air up and air down when going offroad. You should be checking the tire pressure monthly anyway.

Add to it that larger tires are difficult to balance and the added weight of the TPMS sensor as to be offset with weight.
And then when you check the tires on Sunday, then pickup a sharp object Monday morning on the way to work and have a tire going down, wouldn't it be better to know about it before it gets to the squirrelly handling or blowout stage? I only ask because this exact thing happened to my wife's car, less than 12 hours after I checked the tires and her TPMS caught it. It not a nanny feature, it's a safety feature that can help keep you out of a jam.

Believe what you wil. Can that happen, yep, probably .1% of the time in the lifetime of driving a vehicle. Sh!t happens. It's a nanny feature plain and simple.

I have the ones in my 13 that read air pressure and I always use it. When airing up at trails its nice to watch that instead of gauge on pump plus my brother and my gf have hit nails on highway and sensor alerted them. My brothers tire was completely flat in less then 10 min. And I used mine to notice that I had a slow leak from a nail. Loose 5lbs every 2-3 days. So I don't think its just a nanny system. Most ppl don't check air daily. I do using the onboard display and sensors
