I wonder how the traction control and Bld would behave if you added trutracs? That's what I'm piecing together right now. When I get my gear change, I plan to add that to the mix. Does anyone know if one defeats the other? If so...which system?

The other reason to disable the ESC is if you have a lift, you raise your center of gravity and during cornering the ESC will see the new body roll as the beginning of a roll over and try to correct it. This can in turn make the driver freak out and over correct or find the Jeep extremely difficult to control. That's why they have a section in the manual on disabling it.

Plus I like being able to actually slide around corners in the snow and ice

Yesterday was my first day in the snow with my jeep and I was very dissapointed with the traction control! I would take it in and out of 2WD while I was driving to have some fun. When I turn off TC the tires can spin but it will still correct the slide. It was mentchiond that you can disable this but if you do will it completely dissable it even when TC is on? I just want the TC switch to control both things so that I can change it on the fly.

Your only choices are to leave it alone which isn't any fun at all. Disable it via the "steering wheel dance". Install a switch by cutting the wires and installing a new switch for on the fly on and off. The switch is probably the best option as long as you don't mind cutting wires and possibly messijng something up if you do it wrong.

Myself I just did the steering wheel disable and haven't turned it on since. I even asked the girlfriend if she wanted me to turn it back on for winter and she said "Don't you frickin' touch it! I LOVE the way it drives now." I love her

The reason it doesn't function the way you want is because people have forgotten how to drive a rear wheel drive vehicle. The Govt mandates car manufacturers install this crap to protect the stupid from crashing...except these same people then think that with traction control they can't get into an accident and over drive their vehicle anyway. I'm a volunteer firefighter and I've seen too many accidents caused by stupid drivers....

The TCS is designed to be "turned off" but only up to certain speeds (usually around 30mph) so once the wheels spin faster than that it kicks back in to "help" you. Great for getting you stuck in mud or snow . The Skid control and roll over control aspects of the TCS can't be disabled by the factory switch. The only exception to this is in 4LO. 4LO will disable the entire TCS up to 40mph(?) I think....I'd have to look at the manual again to tell you for sure.

Because it's another useless nanny for all the crap drivers in the world. I know how a rear wheel drive vehicle should respond in bad traction situations and have learned to drive accordingly. With the traction control garbage turned on, the vehicle isn't at all predictable. It's down right scary when you lose it at 50 and you can't power out of a skid. TCS brings the suck.

So I'm thinking about doing the switch to completely disable everything on the fly. Does anyone know if I can splice the wire (is it the small purple & big light blue OR is it the big purple & small light blue wire) and relay it to the factory traction control switch below the climate control? I would like it to go to this switch instead of placing a new switch. With the Factory switch, does anyone know off the top of your head if the current is only going through the switch when TC is off?

Last night I tried to hold down the TC switch the temp. turn off the ETC but it only works in 4Hi. Once you put it in 2WD, ETC and TC are both back on.
