Might try spraying some electrical contact spray in and around the button. Then cycle it several times. If it's a dirty contact that MIGHT help. Works for me probably 80% of the time there's a funky (technical term) switch issue.
Otherwise it could be a broken switch, broken connector, broken wire, or... in other words, it gets a lot more challenging!
What model and year do you have? What options? The switch may be different based on year and options.
Do you have an OBD2 reader and associated app? You might have some DTC codes that would help with troubleshooting.
The switch is connected to the LIN Bus (low-speed single-wire bus), so either it works or there are electronics that have failed. Here's a wiring diagram:
