Default Traction control and ESP/BAS light came on... Uh...

What do these mean? They both came on while I was driving home. Is it bad? What are they? How much will it cost me?

I have a 2012 jkur. If you are referring to ABS and ESC, I have the same problem. At first they would come on when I started the jeep and I would drive a few miles and they would go out. Now they just stay on! I just turned over 500 miles.

Is your Jeep lifted?..some times after a lift if you do not re center the steering wheel it will trip the lights, or if its stock and in need if an alignment...I get it on mine once and a while if it doesn't like the way I park...I start it, turn the wheel from lock to lock, shut it off, and re start...99%of the time the light goes out...the one time it didn't go out a few miles of driving shut it off

I had mine come on twice in a two day period a month ago, Jeep is not lifted, I was driving down the interstate going about 80 and the wind was really strong that day, thinking something just got jiggled around because it went away both times and has not come back since

No it's not lifted but the wind was going pretty good and I just went over a makeshift temporary bridge that the city put in. It's a pretty good bump.

I think a strong cross wind can cause them to light up. When you are fighting the wind by steering into it.

My '10 Sahara used to do the same thing. Bone stock and the ESP light would come on on the highway for no obvious reason. It would always clear itself before I could get in to the dealer so I just ignored it after awhile. Then I just disabled the traction control so the light is always on but I know why now
