Default traction control light

After wheeling last week in the snow and mud I noticed the following day the traction control light and esp light came on. At first it had no effect on driving on the road for the first day, but now the front right brake seems to be applying while driving, as if the traction control is on, but I am on dry roads and the light is showing it is off.You can feel and hear the brake pulse.
Could this be caused by a sticking caliper, or could the sensor at the wheel not be making full contact causing the front right brake to engage. Is their a way of disengaging the traction control temporarly to drive it to a service garage i.e. remove the fuse?

My JK did the same thing one morning after it had snowed. I pulled out of my driveway in 4hi, and i slid a little but my esp came on and corrected the slide, then the ESP BAS light came on with the traction control light and didn't go off. When I got to work (40 minute drive later), it was still on so I proceeded to work hoping it would fix itself.

When I got off of work I got back into my JK, and the lights were still on, but after driving ~300 feet or so, they both went off and never came back on. I assume I got some build up and it was making my esp go crazy.

Same thing happened to me today, driving along towing a trailer and felt like a brake was grabbing intermittantly, no lights at this point. Backed into the driveway and the esp and traction control lights came on and stayed on. Went out for a drive tonight and lights still on, able to spin the wheels and sway the back end without any interaction from the computer. Stopped at the store, shut off, restarted and lights still on. About a 1/4 mile down the road both lights went out and all the nanny controls are working normally. Going to send a note to the dealer just to get it logged in the system. only have 12000 km on the rig. lets hope that it stays off.

Mine did that. Eventually all the lights would light up and turn off all the nanny stuff. I needed to replace hub and bearing to fox it.

Is your steering wheel straight ? That is the most common cause....even if its off just a little bit the lights will come on. Straighten it and drive it for a bit. If thats the cause then the lights should turn off after a while.

One question.

Does your Cruise Control system still work? (If Equipped)

If it does, I would suspect something minor occured and will be eventually reset by the computer. It seems there is internal diagnostics that occur routinely as we drive.

It if doen't then I would suspect a wheel speed sensor or module has failed.

If you have a Superchips you can look up the DTC, if any, to give you an idea.

In my experiance, after my lift the steering was off. I drove if for a day and it was ok but at the end of the day the light came on and stayed on. It took a good 30 miles of driving after aligning the steering wheel for the internal diagnostics to see the "steering angle sensor" was in an acceptable position and turned off the light (enabled the ESP-BAS System).

Good Luck

I have heard from others that even slightly damaged wheel sensors or wires may cause the error. I would say that if you give each wheel sensor a look-over you may find the fault. If nothing is visible you may have to get into the electronic troubleshooting (at dealer or elsewhere).
