Trail rated
I know this issue is a dead horse but we all have our own experience with our service dept.
I took my jeep in the other day for the cooling fan not working.
The service dept. called me and said they would cover it
this time but becuase I went thru some mud they would not
cover it again
. I told them that the jeep is "trail rated" and that
I was out "trail" riding and there happened to be some mud
on
the "trail" and that I was not at some "mud" hole abusing my jeep.
Has anyone else had a problem with "trail rated" warrenty issues?

my dealer explained it like this
there is a difference between trail riding, and abuse.. there is nothing wrong with taking a JK wheeling, the JK is built for it. But, if a JK comes in, driven too hard, beyond its limits, i.e.-jumping- when there are parts bent that shouldnt be bent, the dealer wont, and should not cover it. but if something goes wrong other than that, it is covered.
so far so good for me, but I take it slow and try not to go beyond the limits of my Jeeps ability

hell, i wish i had any of the dealerships you all have...
all i get is grief and a runaround. took them two weeks to get me steering stabilizer, and i am still waiting for them to check out my leaky rear diff. i had to take my 33's off and put the stocks back on before they would even look at it.

some are better than others. having a few techs who wheel and/or run with some local clubs makes a huge difference. my dealer will only balk at something if there's obvious impact damage to the part or a closely related part. they've been really good about warranty repairs, even replacing a blown stock shock when it was obvious that it'd been wheeled pretty hard.
