Default transfer case help

guys im heading out to moab on the 25th and my transfer (4wd hi) is not working. 4lo and 2 hi work great but 4hi when you press on the gas goes for a split second it then feels like a brake in the transfer case and actually slows the jeep to a coast. this happens at 2-5 miles an hour. also it allows me to switch from 2hi to 4hi with out putting the trans in neutral.

Any thoughts?

When in 4hi do you see the 4WD indicator light on your dash?

Also you can switch from 2wd to 4HI while travelling under a speed of 55mph. it does not require you to switch the trans into neutral either
