So about two years ago, automatic transmission bezel light (light near PRND handle) quit working, no big deal must be the light bulb...or so I thought. Yesterday it started working (no unusual driving conditions or anything like that) except the only difference was the fact that the engine light that came on (Code P0456 Evap Canister Small Leak Detected)... After checking all the hoses and gas cap and resetting the computer (unplugging battery), the engine code is gone (for now at least; I'll have to see if it pops back up) but now come to find out that the above mentioned lights quit working

Any ideas on what might be the issue or how to fix it so both the lights work and no code pops up?

2010 JK Sport, no electrical modifications except for off-road lights (lights are wired directly to the battery)
