Default Transmission issues. 2016

Hi all, will try to explain as best as I can. First off, is the manual transmission the same between 2012-2016? I noticed that I don't feel a smooth glide in neutral. And if I put the slightest bit of pressure to the shifter, it will slide into 4th & 6th, not fully engage, but will sit in the chamber. The dealer is telling me that it is normal. I have a 2016, with less than 3000km on it. Please help, going to argue with dealer in about an hour.

My '15 is a manual, and I have not noticed this problem. Before you take it to service, go to a different dealer and test drive a different manual Jeep and see if it acts the same. I will say that in my opinion the newer manuals on the JK are clunky and finicky compared to other manuals I have driven. Definitely not a very smooth gearbox, but I do enjoy driving it.

I'm not really following. I think it'd help if you explained what you think should be happening along with how you think it's behaving wrong.

Ok, if you normally put pressure on a shifter, then let go just before it engages the gear, it should pop back into neutral. My shifter stays in the 4th gear slot, just before the point where it would engage. Is that a little better??? Really hard to explain.

I think I follow you now. I have a 2015; just ran out to the garage. Going into 4th, there's a spot before it's fully engaged where it'll sit and not pop back out. Same with 6th.

Greatly appreciated. It's weird, my 12 never had that issue.
Thanks again.

my 13 did.. it was clunky going into 4 and 6 so at times if I didnt apply enough pressure it stopped in that half in half out position.. if I let the clutch out at that point it would grind instead of pop back to neutral..

I got used to always making sure I felt "2 small notches" as I went into 4 or 6 before I let go of the shifter and released the clutch...

I dont remember it on my 08 or 09.. thats why it caught me a bit off guard in my 13...

I haven't noticed mine on 4th or 6th. A couple times mine gets stuck going into reverse. Everything feels fine until I let the clutch out. Then it sounds like death. Has only happened maybe 2-3 times though.
