Default TSB's

To get TSB's taken care of, do you just have to print them out and take to the dealership? They aren't listed as recalls so I'm sure if I just go in and say, hey I want to get a flash for the premature oil change indicator or the radio muting problem, the guys at my dealership won't have a clue.

I've had mixed results. I've printed out a few TSBs, handed them to a service manager, and he took care of them.

Yesterday I did the same thing, but had somebody else. I wanted the clutch squeal fixed. He called me today to say they were unable to reproduce it, so they can't do anything about it.

It all depends on the dealer....AND whether or not your Jeep HAS the problem that's TSB related. Even the Jeeps that fall within the listed TSB dates may not have the problem on the TSB. I diagnosed my Jeeps oil leak as the timing cover, took the TSB in WITH me and gave it to the service writer. They still misdiagnosed my leak as the oil filter, even though that was one of the things on the list that the TSB said not to let fool the technician. That was two weeks ago. My Jeep is in now getting the timing cover replaced since it was still leaking after they just tightened up the oil filter.

One of the things I like do since I'm using up the free oil changes rather than getting a courtesy ride to work is use the hour or so to follow around the Managers and use my Professorial training. If they "duck out", I don't have a problem talking to a crowd of would be buyers. You know, giving them pointers on potential problems with various vehicles and issues to watch out for with my particular maintenance departement

Eh... mine definitely has the problem. In fact, it drives me downright batty at times listening to the squeal. But, of course, it wasn't found by the dealer

probably not a good idea to print out the TSB and take it in, considering that at the top of the TSB it says this:

This bulletin is supplied as technical information only and is not an authorization for repair. Well, I got news. When I plunk down over 25K for a Jeep.....or ANY vehicle, I got the RIGHT to print out whatever the hell I want to.
