Turn off center console USB port
I have a 2013 2dr JK and an putting in a powered Phone holder like in my other vehicles. I have it plugged into the power port inside the center console. The problem is that port is hot and has power all of the time. I don't want to run the battery down and need help figuring out how to make the Center consoled USB port shut down when the ignition is turned off. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I do have the Jeep OBD JScan and have used it before but cannot seem to find the right module to turn this off with the ignition.

I think if it’s just a power port and not for data to the radio that it will be hardwired to the fuse box under the hood. I know on my 2016 that there are two fuses that provide power to the lighters, one I believe the one in the center console is powered all of the time while the one on the dash is only powered when the ignition is on.
I know this because I installed daytime running lights which a JK doesn’t have of course so I used a fuse tap to the fuse that comes on with the ignition.
So I think if you wanted to, you could power the USB port from the switched fuse, it could possibly be as easy as moving a wire from one fuse to the other.
But this is a couple of assumptions, first is that it’s just a power USB port and not a data port and second assumption is that it gets its power from the switched accy power fuse, and the third is your 13 is wired the same as my 16 and fourth that the USB port is wired to the fuse that powers the lighter plug in the center console.
Worst case you could install a USB port yourself and using a fuse tap power it from the switched accy fuse, using a fuse tap of course would require no cutting or modification to the existing wiring.
You could validator if it gets power from that fuse by pulling the fuse of course
On my 2016 it’s fuse M6 and M7 and I think M7 is tge one that is switched, the bottom of the fuse box cover lists them

Thank you for the reply, That makes sense and I think I am incorrect in my assumption and it is actually a power port (cig lighter) and not a USB. I think I have an adapter in it.
But it still makes no sense to me that it is hot ALL THE TIME. You would think that would be a parasitic draw and not a brilliant thing to do.
I will do some more research and see if I can find how/if I can turn it off.
Thanks.

Depends on your situation,
I bought my Jeep largely to tow behind our Motorhome, Jeeps are probably the most towed vehicle there is, I think to some extent they recognize this and make the jeep tow friendly, for example almost every other vehicle requires you to leave the key in the ignition to unlock the steering wheel lock, and many towed vehicles rely on a brake box that is an air compressor that sits on the floor and actuates the brake pedal, so how are you going to power it? Well Jeep has no steering wheel lock so no key is required to be left in the vehicle, and one of the the cigarette lighter plugs stays hot all of the time so powering your brake box is easy. The lighter plug on the dash that most would use to charge phones etc. turns off with the ignition. In my situation the way it is is smart.
If I’m right and I’d bet lunch on it, you’re not going to find any way to turn it off with software because it’s not on the can bus, it’s simply hard wired, but I think maybe you can move the wire to the adjacent fuse that turns off with the ignition.
Tesla is the only vehicle I have seen where everything is on the bus so it’s actually controlled by the vehicles computer, you can roll the windows up and down, flash the lights, blow the horn, make silly noises, turn on the airconditioning and even “summon” the car all with your phone.
Putting simple things like accy power plugs on the bus just unnecessarily complicates things in my opinion as an old school mechanic, but I’m sure those that code etc probably love it.

Thanks, If I can find the danged wire that powers it I will change it to a switched fuse. But how the hell am I going to track that down. Lots of trial and mostly error LOL:
The bottom of the fuse box lid lists each fuse and it’s function.
‘I used a fuse tap and tied into the switched one to wire my daytime running lights, anytime the key is on, they are lit, turn key off they go out.
I bought these as it gave me an assortment of sizes https://www.amazon.com/BULGILIA-Auto...%2C297&sr=8-16
But you should be able to get to the bottom of the fusees and move the wire over, but if not a fuse tap is another way
I had a chance to take a look today. The fuse at M6 does not disable the outlet inside the center console and there is no fuse in M7. I am just going to put a switched USB cable on it and call it good. i can then just turn it on and off easily without unplugging or messing with it.
Interesting that M6 says Power outlet #1 and M7 says power outlet #2 and it is the double outlet that can be switched for battery or ignition. But with no fuse in it that is a mute point. As said a PO put a USB port in where the dahs cig lighter was so that is probably why no fuse.
Thanks for all the advice.
