Default u joints?

I have been having this clank noise coming from the rear of my 2007 4door wrangler for few months now, it only happnes when I initially start to go forward from a stop and its just one "pop" or sometimes a "pop pop". I just called up to my local Jeep dealer and was told the rear doesn't have a u joint. That to replace the joint there would involve replacing the entire drive shaft. Is this legit?

Also could the clank be anything else? Any and all help is appreicated.

Check your front U Joints by rocking the front driveshaft by hand and look at them for play. If those check good then it might be your rear drive shaft.

Stock rear driveshaft had CVs at both ends.
