Same for me, only it doesn't recognize names in my phone book. It's a 2012 2dr.

Dealer offered no hope and uconnect said they were coming out with an upgrade in late October. Well still no software update.

Here is a link to the UConnect compatibility site.
http://chrysler.servigistics.com/que...=en&brand=Jeep

There is a TSB NUMBER: 08-018-12 for your Jeep for Hands Free Module Customer Satisfaction Enhancements. Here is everything that is updated.

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer satisfaction enhancements are included with this software release:
NOTE :After the HFM has been updated it will receive these enhancements.

^ Reduced "Device Reading wait time after connecting a device to the remote USB port.

^ Call / Dial separation improves upon names being recognized as phone numbers.

^ Improved sound quality during Bluetooth streaming.

^ Increased iPod and iPhone compatibility.

^ SMS messaging support via MAP protocol (not all phones support the MAP protocol).

^ Added "None of These" and "Correction" to the phone book prompt menu for better handling of similar names.

^ Previous button will return the song currently being played to the beginning of the track.

^ AirPlay feature "Dock Connector" no longer needs to be manually selected on Apple devices. This will resolve the "No Audio" condition when the device is connected to the remote USB port and dock connector is not selected.

I've not had any issues with mine before and after the update. Although I've have several android devices connected, never an iPhone.

Went it for a free oil change and I got it back, I noticed a change when up set-up menu had an over abundance of new options. Might give the dealer a call and see if you can swing in to get the update.

I have at '12 with the standard radio.

The iPhones work well with the Uconnect system. When they start acting "odd"" then I usually will do a reboot of the phone. Hold down the poower & home buttons till the white apple comes up, then release them. The phone will now reboot. I have the 4 & the 4S both and have to reboot them a couple times a month for various issues other than just BT issues.
Alos you didn't mention which radio you have.

Is there a way to update outside the dealer?

I'm doubtful. I have a friend who just bought a 2012 Journey who complained of issues with UConnect. I told her about the update that I received. She called the dealer and they told her to stop in and they'd update it, no questions. I take it your not close to a dealer?

The update is installed using a thumb drive via the USB port in the center console. Some have reported finding them still plugged in after they've gotten the vehicle home.
