Default Uconnect question

Does anyone have the uconnect enabled on their JK? i have an 08 unlimited X and it did not come with that enabled (but obviously has the buttons on teh dash). what does it allow you to do? does that allow you to have a bluetooth phone hooked up? is it a big process to get it set up after the car is purchased? expensive?

Do a search for Uconnect there a few good threads that detail the steps to get it installed. It costs about $250 and it works great but it is an addon kit and the dealer has to flash the computer for it to work.

This is only true if you have the MyGig radio. I have the single disk cheapo (with Infinity speakers) and I love my UConnect with iPod interface. Take a look in the electronics section and you will find a lot of info.

exactly, my deck isn't the mygig, just the single disk. so it isn't already enabled from the dealership. so looks like 250 for the program and 20 bucks for the mic and i'm good to go for bluetooth? what effect does it have on the ipod that you mentioned?

Read the following, maybe not all of it, just skim it

https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/jk-electrical-lighting-sound-systems-13/uconnect-working-my-07-unlimited-sahara-24436/

In there you will find the part number for the uconnect module which includes a microphone cost is about $200-250, several sources are identified in the thread.

Also an optional iPod cable is identified that plus into the uconnect module and lets you control your iPod through your head unit and listen to it through the speakers.
