Unlimited coil springs on 2 door JK?
I have heard that if you put the original factory coil springs from a 4 door JK onto a 2 door JK that you will gain about an inch of lift. I was wondering if this is true and if anyone had any experience with this?
There are several threads about that around here somewhere....but, I think the average is around 1-2" of lift from the unlimited Rubicon springs alone...not sure if X or Sahara springs will have the same outcome or not..
Seems to be true, I would look for springs off of a Rubicon Unlimited hard top for max effect. I've kicked this one around myself because I can only go up about an inch and still clear the garage entry safely. Expect the ride to be harsh(er) from this upgrade though.

I did it on my 2door and gained about 1". It really helped me with the sagging front end. I had a winch and heavy bumper so my springs just weren't up to the task. The ride was a little firmer but nothing to say negative. My wife only noticed that the front end didn't dive and lift on stops and starts.
You need heavy duty coils whether it's a Rubi or tow package. I will look for the numbers. There is a letter in the Jeep's vin that tells you if it has it or not. All Rubi's will have that letter. The letter is G

Not all coils are the same. If your VIN number has a letter "F" in the fourth letter/number space your coils are rated for 4k-5k whereas if the fourth letter/number space has a "G" then the springs are rated for 5k-6k.
That is correct. I installed just the front and ran them that way for a couple months. I installed the rear just today. I don't like the front rake but I wanted to get better springs in the back for my boat and utility trailer. Easy fix for a 2 door with sagging front spings. I like it! This does fix the nose dive quite well and I have 33's also. You can expect 3/4 to 1" gain . It depends on the extra weight on the front like heavy winches and bumpers. The rake was helped by not installing the rear but I wanted the stiffer rear more than I care about rake so I will address this issue later. With the TF 2.5 BB and the HD Rubi springs I call this my 3" lift! I will post a pic in a little bit.
With my fenders chopped it is hard to tell by pictures the difference compared to stock fenders....

I have another question. I already have a "2.5 spacer lift on the JK. If I get some Unlimited Rubi springs and throw those on, will I need to get new shocks? Also, will I need to relocate the brake lines or anything like that?

Don't know about "need" but you may want to pick up a set of shock extensions. Brake lines will be about maxed out too. At least mine are.
You will need new shocks that are 3" longer or get shock extensions like the ones that come with the Teraflex BB. I would recommend new shocks because they would probably be better than your stocks so your ride would improve with the lift.
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has tried to put the Ram 1500 Front springs on their Unlimited yet? They are the same size diameter just a bit shorter.
I found a set of Ram (FabTech) Springs at the Junk yard for $14 bucks, that are about 1" shorter then my stock springs, however as you might guess much heaver duty. I decided to try them because of the very heavy front bumper and wench up front. I found that the springs both share the same diameter and roughly the same overall length, I decided to give them a try and see what would happen or if they would even fit correctly. I pulled the driver's side first. Upon removal of the stock spring I found that the Ram spring was roughly an inch shorter but they are exactly the same size diameter. When I was finished placing the new spring in I found that the heavier springs did not have the same sag as the stock ones and gave me about 3" more of a lift up front.
I was running stock shocks with a 1 and 3/4" spacer and I was riding on my bump stop all of the time.
This was not good so I thought for $14 why not give it a try,worst case I could just sell them on EBAY.
I add new ProComp 9000 shocks that gave me 3 inches more travel and I have to say the ride is great, very smooth and soft compared to the old ride I had before (bump stop ride that is). I have not had any bump steer so far, there is a few things that I will need to address for the new height, but I have not had any drive ability issues so far that I can see of feel.
My biggest concern right now is safety and what it will do off road and if I will be doing any damage to my rig long term with these heavier springs? I know about limiting my drop so that the spring will not slide down on my bump stop, but is there anything else you guys might add to this? There is still a lot of droop in the break lines but I can also replace them if they will also need to be done.
Please let me know if I just wasted my Jeep's safety and capability with this or if its worth a look.
