Default Unlimited vs Wrangler

I figure this has been asked a million times..but I'm a old CJ guy...my sons has a 08 Wrangler...we want to buy a factory hardtop, it is my understanding or so I thought the Unlimited models are longer in body length..so even a two door unlimited top would not fit...........some tell me it will fit..others say no...anyone with a definite answer??? thanks in advance...

From 07 to present, Unlimited is the same as 4-door.

Prior to that, Unlimited was the longer version of a TJ but still 2-door.

From 2007 and up:
Unlimited is four door
Regular Wrangler is two door
The tops are completely different, two door top has no middle section, but the front freedom panels are the same. The long 2 door was the LJ and stopped production in 2006.
