Vibration at 40 mph after fuel pump replace
Hey all!
Wondering if I can get some feedback. I have a 2011 Sahara JK Ultimate.
So, a couple of months ago I changed the fuel pump myself.
That all seemed to go fine, but since then I’ve had a weird vibration issue.
It happens usually at around 40mph and usually when I’ve had my foot off the pedal coasting and I slowly press it down at around 40 mph. I get this light vibration kind of like driving over a rumble strip on the highway.
I have a couple theories on this and wanted to see if anyone thinks these theories hold up.
1. When I replaced the fuel pump, I had a bit of trouble getting the gas tank back in place and I ended up having to loosen up one of the bolts and that I believe connects the suspension to the axle I had a bit of trouble getting the gas tank back in place and I ended up having to loosen up one of the bolts and that I believe connects the suspension to the axle.
That went fine once I loosened it but before I loosened it I was trying to force the tank in the place and it was grinding a bit against the driveshaft.
While it seems unlikely that this did any damage I have wondered if I knocked some thing out of place.
2. I have had a P0433 code on my Jeep for forever. It’s an evap purge solonoid code.
I changed the gas cap, changed the solenoid, change the evap canister and the control valve on the canister but the code won’t go. I noticed after I changed the fuel pump that I started to smell a gas smell. It was because one of the hoses going into the evap canister had popped off. I re-attached if, but I’m going to replace it because I think it is loose and am wondering if that loose hose was causing my code all along.
I am hopeful it will fix that code but I am also wondering if that hose being loose could possibly be causing this vibration issue.
these are really the only two things that I can think of. Does anyone have any ideas?
thanks!!
Craig

Sounds like a driveshaft issue. Maybe the force of the tank against it ruined the Rzeppa joints. Take the shaft off and have it looked at and drive the Jeep in FWD and see if it vibrates without the rear DS.
Wondering why you had trouble installing tank as they are easy to lift in with a floor jack nice and slow and watch the way in as they need a bit of a wriggle here and there.
