Voiding Warranty
Hello to all -
I bought a new 2011 JK Sport about 2 months ago.
I was talking to a guy about putting in some electrical stuff and a 2.5 inch lift to install 35" tires.
He says any modifications done to the Jeep will void the warranty.
Am sure someone has asked this question before.
Will any modifications, even cosmetic, void the warranty?
If some will does anyone know what will and what will not void the warranty?
This is what my plans have been but now am questioning if I should do anything to it. (All electricals would be run on their own circuit coming straight off the battery with one penetration thru the firewall)
* Rough Country 2.5" lift
* 35" or 37" tires
* Cut stock fender flares for room for tires.
* Install CB, PA and inverter going straight to the battery and pull ignition line from fuse box to trigger relays.
* Replace bumpers front and rear
* Install long range lights
* Cosmetic paint etc
Thanks in advance

The bumpers shouldn't void warranty either, i have an aftermarket front bumper and they've never mentioned it voiding the warranty- Although if your coils ever go bad or sag, they could try blaming the extra weight on the bumpers.. If they do, just find another dealer

Here is a recent post I made on the subject with a link to some good reading on the subject - https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/show...=1#post2290261
Yeah that thread and link do have some good info on the subject.
I am going to the dealer for the third time to try to get a leak fixed so I'll talk to them then and see what they say.
So far they know I am pissed about the leak so hopefully they wont give me any crap.
Thanks much

In the booklet, they describe what's covered, not covered, what will and will not void the warranty.
It's pretty vague, so take the booklet and a list of what you want to do, to the dealer and discuss it with them.
Cosmetics generally don't void warranties. It ALL depends on what you are getting covered. If you want your suspension covered and you put a lift there is a chance they won't cover it. If you install a lift and your tranny goes out, they most likely will cover it since one doesn't effect the other. I have a snorkel, had to cut my hood, installed auxiliary lights, new tires, and other JK forum mods and had a new engine put in under warranty because none of that had an effect on the piston rod bending. They never said squat about my mods. Now if I was complaining about hydro lock and due to my snorkel I went thru a carwash that sprayed a bunch of water down the snorkel I'd be SOL. So it all depends. It def not the "any mods void a warranty" thing. That's 100% BS. If your mod caused the breakdown they probably won't cover it.
