Default Wavy hood

Anyone else have pressure looking dents in their hoods? I mean they can mostly be seen by looking across the hood from the sides but are definitely there. I mentioned it to the dealer and the body guy there. He says the only solution is a new hood, so we're working on that. I'm just curious if this is a "Jeep thing" as they say since I can find similar spots everywhere (Door handles, mirrors, hinges, etc.). Can someone go out and check their hood for me?

Done.

The only waves on my JK are coming through the driver's window.

Has it always been there or could it have been caused by flutter?

My hood does not have waves in it. It is a large piece of sheet metal without bends for strength though. I can imagine it would be prone to oil canning. Do you have any pictures?

I'll try to get some pics but think it's going to be a tough picture to take. If you get eye level with the hood and look across it, you'll see a couple larger pressure dents like around the door handles, mirrors, etc.

I know exactly what you mean and all JKs have what you described. It's really easy to see when they are waxed nicely and sitting in the sunlight.

If you get eye level with the hood and look at the round bumpers, you can see how the hood almost looks dented in there.

Also on the body by the hinges is the same thing if you catch the light right. Near the door handles too.
