My 2012 JK service manual says P1239-ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE TOO LOW
The link above says something completely different. Call the dealer and see what they have to say. You'll end up there anyway for the warranty work.

I just got the same on my 2014 JK today. My OBDII scan tool shows P1239 "Powertrain", JKshiver did you find an answer for this one? Closest dealership for me is an hour plus drive each way so I cant really swing on in.
Called the local Dealership and they are as clueless as I have come to expect. They could not find that code for a 2014 Wrangler. They are supposed to "research" it and call me back but I am not holding my breath. I notice we are both in cold climate areas (Alaska and Canada/BC) so I am guessing what ronjenx found in the '12 FSM is likely correct.
Here is the info for the code in question:
P1239-ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE TOO LOW
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information .
Possible Causes
Engine oil
Engine oil temp signal circuit high resistance
Engine oil temp sensor ground circuit high resistance
Engine Oil Temperature Sensor
Powertrain Control Module
P1239-ENGINE OIL TEMPERATURE TOO LOW
For a complete wiring diagram, refer to the Wiring Information .
- When Monitored: The engine oil temperature has dropped below a calibrated temperature value. Engine start up.
- Set Condition: The Engine Oil temperature rises slower than a calibrated modeled temperature. When the actual oil temperature falls below the low boundary of the calibrated modeled temperature for three minutes the fault is set. Two trip fault. Three good trips to turn off the MIL.
Possible Causes
Engine oil
- OEM recommended oil viscosity is being used.
- Customer is following the oil change schedule.
- Check the engine oil for contamination. (i.e., fuel and/or engine coolant).
- Internal engine condition that may effect oil pressure.

Resurrect This thread… I just had this code pop up for me last night. I also have a ‘14 JKU… looks like there was a service bulletin on this issue. Anyone else run into this code in recent years? Seems like it might just be a matter of having a dealership reflash the PCM or ECU, but curious if others have had experience.
