What does the "X"mean?

Just curious, but does the "X" sticker on my JK stand for anything?

JKinLB 08-13-2009 08:02 PM

As far as I know, it's just the randomly chosen designation for the base trim Wrangler. That being said, it can be configured with all sorts of goodies available on the higher trims, when purchasing.

Bacon 08-13-2009 08:14 PM

JK's have three trims levels, or models. "X" is the base model, "Sahara" is the mid-level, or upper-level pavement pounder depending on who you ask, and the "Rubicon" is the top-level offroader.

all three came with all sorts of options.

Mr.ZAP 08-13-2009 09:23 PM

It means Xtreme... As in the most extreme 'base' vehicle on the market hahaha :yup:

armycop 08-13-2009 09:58 PM

It will be gone for 2010, replaced by "Sport".:dontknow2:

cyruspura 08-13-2009 10:00 PM

X= xtreme!

jkdadx3 08-13-2009 10:22 PM

Sport sounds like something you say after slapping a dude on the butt that just lost a game! Like "good try sport" or on a yota soccer SUV

fish 08-13-2009 10:22 PM

It means it's not a RUBICON:wink:

The most fun though, is when people compliment me on my "Rubicon", and I get to tell them that I built it myself... :bleh:

Seriously though, I reaally would have liked a front D44 and 4.10's... that's about it, though. Oh and the 4:1 T-Case ratio would be cool.

fish 08-13-2009 10:52 PM

:rotflmao2: i was waiting for that:rotflmao2:

So ....

| Teraflex 2.5" BB | Teraflex 9550 Shocks | Teraflex Swaybar Quick Disconnects | 3.73 Gears | 17" AEV Pintler Argent Wheels | EVO C2 Gussets | OME Steering Damper | Woods Rock Rails | ARB On-Board Air Compressor

Makes a Rubicon????? Or where you so lame as to buy Rubi stickers and put them on your X?:rotflmao2:

Just giving you a hard time, dude. After I got mine sitting the way I wanted i had a guy ask me on the street "what year is that jeep?" I said 2008 he then asked "its got a lift on it or something???" :what?: I rolled my eyes and said "yea or something". It only counts if you impress a guy that knows.

I agree. But, we're talking about the same braniacs that came up with "Sunbonnet" for their safari top. :naw:

I've corrected a few people who complimented me on my Rubicon too. As far as I'm concerned X stands for take off that sticker and make it your own!

jeff@zina.com 08-14-2009 09:56 AM

X = X-cellent Mall Crawler. :D

The 2010 "Sport" designation is a return to what Wranglers used to have for the base model. Of course, the Sahara used to be a special trim package, not a model designation. And at one time, nobody considered a Rubicon package since all Wranglers were the same.

Marketing... :yucky:

ya......but don't put the guy down for not knowing. Everybody has to start somehwere. And seeing yours may make that guy another JK lover.

wildandwillin 08-14-2009 06:15 PM

I have seen some very capable X Jks

How about X-tra parts needed to get trail ready?:dontknow2:

Trying to be funny:D:wink:

uge 08-15-2009 06:35 AM

Here in Europe the X is named as "sport"

sixt7gt350 08-15-2009 07:01 AM

The brilliant marketeers at Chrysler tried to play on the "X" games craze and the like.

Personally speaking, the "X" was just a placeholder, destined to be replaced by the proper Jeep logo of choice:

That doesn't mean shit. :synister:

Yes it does it mans everything you purchased to make you rig close to a Rubicon is NOT covered under a single warranty or a warranty at all for that matter.

We have one Rubicon Unlimited and will soon be getting a X model Wrangler. So we will see if it is nicer to build or buy..

Do a search on warranties, they deny shit on the Rubi's just as much as X's and Sahara's. Modified or stock, doesn't really matter. You just gotta find a mod friendly dealer.Which, is hard to do for most people.

It means all you could afford after the eX.

sciguy6 08-16-2009 05:30 PM

I had to get rid of the X. Being 40+++ and feeling it was (or may be) linked to the X games. I went through years of my skateboarding (do nothing) son watching and dreaming of being in the X-games. (He's still doing nothing and not skateboarding):sad2: Maybe alot of you are from that generation but I would think that even if you were, an X doesn't draw you to the vehicle to buy it "dude" Just like buying a Corvette doesn't guarantee that the ladies will come flocking:brows: (They never have for me at least, so it must be me). Plus how many names does a vehicle need? Jeep, Wrangler, Unlimited, X. Ouch! Maybe I get rid of the unlimited too (oh right! I need that sticker to show it's a 4 door. Silly me:crazyeyes:)

hvilla 08-16-2009 07:45 PM

Just get rid of the sticker... when you start modifying it you'll get more decals than you would want to... I got rid of every sticker and I have (or started with) a rubi...

sciguy6 08-16-2009 09:16 PM

Sticker off right away, bought JK sticker so now what? Jeep, Wrangler, Unlimited, X, JK? And a Partridge in a Pear Tree.

nikbass 08-17-2009 04:38 AM

X=Kiss you silly!:bleh:

Can't believe nobody said that.:D

racer83l 08-17-2009 05:05 AM

I never understood the X designation. Would be wrong with it just being simply, Jeep Wrangler no need for any other name. Im surprised Jeep hasnt done that to save the $ on the sticker and the man/woman that applied it

CdnJeepDan 08-17-2009 06:05 AM

Hrmm... Weren't the old trim level designations something like this?

YJ: (base - no-name), sport, islander, sahara, renegade
TJ: (base - no-name), sport, sahara, rubicon
JK: X, sahara, rubicon

I think X just replaced the (base - no-name).

Really though, who cares? It's a Jeep and it's your Jeep. Love it and remember to wave!

Taking one last look at my rig before entering the "Rock Garden" on the Evans Creek trail # 519 last weekend. Nasty stuff.

Also completed the notorious 311 trail at Evans without a scratch on stock BFG tires.

Jiblet 09-02-2009 11:43 AM

When I first saw a JK and started poking around dealers....

I thought it was a Roman numeral ten :eek2:
