This time, back to Castrol dino with a Fram Tough Guard filter. I think my Jeep likes the Castrol over the Valvoline I just had in it. I have never had any trouble with the Fram filters, but they are not my first choice. If I am near the dealer, I will get Mopar filters. I just found a parts store that is close to my house that has Wix filters. I will get those next.

I use K&N with one inch nut because I cannot stand trying to get an oil filter strap wrench to fit up where chrysler put the JK's filter. Worth the extra 5 bucks to make my life easier. I usally use penzoil regular oil becasue it is always on the shelf at walmart.

Hi, I was wondering along these lines, if you are running synthetic engine oil, and run a lot of short trips (it takes me 3-5 months to log 3-4k miles) how often do you change the oil? Every 3 months? 3000 miles? 5000 miles? Just wondering, thanks.

Second this questions. Glad I found this topic as Im at 2500 km mark on my new JK and really looking to switch to synthetic. Im also getting mixed answers on when do I actually make the switch? Some people are telling me to do one more normal oil change then make the switch to synthetic. Others are telling me to make the switch on first oil change. Which would be the correct way?

I use the Amsoil filters as they filter more small particles than most,
I would have to agree. The Base oil used is superior to the premium brands like Royal purple and Lucas. You are better off according to studies (Not just Amsoil studies) with Mobile 1 or Valvoline Synthetic. Oil filters are the same way, I have read about many of the filters the ones that seem to always stand out are the ones with a durable outer case. Squeeze a Puralator pure 1 filter. Just do not get caught because you will dent it. WIX MANN MOBILE 1 BOSCH KN even the MOPAR (WIX) is good filter. Spend the extra money you will do yourself a favor.

I use mobil 1 synthetic truck n suv or reg syn. Get it at wall mart on sale. And a fram tough guard 3600
Which is a tad bigger than stock. Has more filter and holds a lil more oil.
