Default What to watch for

I’m the proud owner of a (new to me) 2013 JK sport with a manual transmission and 70k. I put well over 200k on an 01 TJ, then went full minivan for a couple years while my kids were little.

The TJ was fairly bulletproof. A couple clutch jobs, an alternator, a radiator, belts, pulleys, a couple water pumps and a new steering column all spread out over 10 years. Still ran like the day I got it when I put it out to pasture. an old fashioned case of New England Frame Rot finally did it in.

So what are the electrical and mechanical things I can expect in the next 30-50k? This rig is coming from TX and the frame is flawless. Any advice to keep it that way?

Man, sad day seeing one of our Texas jeeps being sent to the rusty northeast....like a lamb to slaughter!

I've had great luck with my '13 for 92k miles now. Replaced the radiator, thermostat, & cooling sensor, but other than that it has been mechanically sound. Everything else was either just upgrades or wear items

I have replaced the Oil Pressure Bypass on mine, with the repair kit sold by NAPA.
I just replaced a broken Hood Latch with the new JL style Hood Latchs. I believe this will be a big improvement.
A heater core replacement might be needed in the next 30K. At 80K mine is not blowing as warm on the drivers side as the passenger side. Not bad enough to require a replacement just yet, but getting their.

Congratulations! The JK is going to be a lot different than your TJ. I'd probably do a full fluid change, coolant, front and rear diffs, tranny and transfer case unless you know for sure they were done recently. If the clutch feels heavy maybe keep in mind a new clutch, and if you are in that far a rear main oil seal.

I wouldn't expect any major electrical issues at that mileage unless it was flooded.

Since you are dealing with the same salty conditions I deal with here I would certainly undercoat it. Have had good luck with Crown but I suspect a lot of this is also how thorough the particular shop is.

If you get a funny oil leak that is all over the transmission, it is likely the oil filter/cooler assembly.
