Maybe its the wire that would go to the hood light if you had one?

Maybe i was talking about a different wire. Here is a pic.
It's on driver side, right below washer fluid.

I have also been wondering about that wire? I have an 08 Rubicon and it is hidden near the headlight wiring on the drivers side.

is this the wire? or does anyone know what this is to I do have a 7 pin trailer wire hook up on the back but i dont know if it is factory cause i bought the jeep used?

just cut the wire and see what happens if something does not work you will know what it does

The 4 wire hookup is standard and comes with the tow package from the factory.

You can buy a 7 wire kit which can be installed by the dealer or yourself if you need a 7 wire plug for your trailer.
