2008 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED SAHARA 4WD 3.8L , Auto. tires 255/70 R18's

Chart says 5445 GVWR

Heres are some other model 08's. Just skip over the Europe versions.

http://www.automobile-catalog.com/ma...ited/2008.html

edit: looks like they add 1,000 lbs for passengers and cargo.

Look to the right hand column and there are links for 2007 - 2011 models.
Hope this helps.

What confuses me is a couple of people on this thread reported 5700 lbs GVWR as taken from the placard on the door. None of the models on the web site go that high except for the CRD - and I don't think they are selling the CRD in Dallas, TX (CerOf). The sticker on the door is the one that counts for real.

If you look closely, each model, each engine type, and each transmission has different GVWRs. Also the dry weights are for the soft top. The hard top takes away over 80 lbs from the payload as compared to the soft top.

The OP doesn't have enough of the models and variations listed in his table. This is much more complex than it first appears - kinda like the thread that is trying to catalog all of the springs:

I just need a rough GVWR estimate for each trim level,
for example: If the majority of Rubicons are 5700lb, then that's is all we need.
I will put in the notes for each trim level chart, what was the estimate GVWR that I have used, the 40-80lb difference is not going to matter much.

Just need you guys to view your labels on the door jam and post it here.
Thanks

I'm too lazy to view it. So, here it is from a post on build dates:

I just stopped by our transfer station aka dump. I asked if the operator would weigh my Jeep. It's a JK X 2 door. automatic, 3.73, OEM tires and not much else (other then me) in it, well maybe 100 lbs of tools incl floor jack and a full tank of fuel (100 lbs?) I weighed in at 4380 lbs. Take away the fuel, tools and me and we're just about 4,000. Interesting

I am trying to crate a special towing chart for the Jeep Towing Guide thread.

BUT!
I can't find a reliable source for the "Gross vehicle weight rating" for each trim level.

If you can help, please check the decal on your door jam, driver side for GVWR,
and specify your trim level: 2dr, 4dr, axle ratio, X, Shara, Rubicon

Thanks!
