Read your owners manual, there's different degrees of "off".

Then you should download one and read it for your own education and safety. Then ask questions if you don't understand something.

2010 models can still get a free printed manual from Chrysler customer service.

That button is for the ESP. When you press it you are partially disabling it, but not completely. You'll just have to read up on it for the details.
If you can't wait for your manual, just look it up on Chrysler or Google.

Is it 540 pages or the much shorter quick start guide?

One of the basic things to do when one gets a new vehicle is read the manual.
Sure, we can answer his question, but what about all the other things in the manual he needs to know?
Now, if there was something he read in the manual that he didn't understand, people would be jumping through hoops to help him.
The best advice we can give him right now is "Read the manual."
