whats the downside axle seal inside dana44 leaking?
so i have gear oil leaking out the rear right axle seal. one of the members told me it should be covered under 5 yr 50k drive train, but im in pools and im busy as hell. so what are the problems with a leaking oil seal. i have the diff full (for now) and it is not so bad that it is flinging on the brake (yet). so what could go wrong as i procrastinate?
Could be, but limited to:
plugged vent tube
bent axle shaft
scored axle shaft
loose bearing retainer plate bolts
bearing retainer ring has moved
worn bearing
sometimes seals leak for no apparent reason
Procrastinating can lead to low oil level, putting the other axle shaft bearing at risk initially, followed by the differential internals being at risk.
