Wheel algnment problem
I am new, so bear with me. My question is on alignmnent. I was just told that my 2012 jk cannot be adjusted (it pulls to the right) without a ball joint being replaced that has a 1 degree cant. They stated my ball joint was not bad, but could not adjust alignment with stock ball joint. My jeep has a 3 inch lift and 35s. But it didnt pull to the right until recently. Please help.....are they correct?
from the factory, the only thing an alignment shop could do on a JK is center the steering wheel and adjust toe. Camber is not adjustable on a JK unless you have adjustable ball joints, but practically nobody does that on these things. Do you have means of caster adjustment? Adjustable control arms, control arm brackets, cam bolts? If not, you likely have pretty low caster, ballparking around 2.9* +/- with a 3" lift. Can you post up the spec sheet?
The inner C's are weak on the JK axles, it does not take much for your camber to get out of speck and that will cause the pull. Offset ball joints will fix the issue. They can also increase your caster with the offset ball joints. They are used all the time to fix this issue. You might want to install C gussets while the ball joints are being replaced. Specs on your lift would help.
Dirtman has seen a lot more than I, but I have never first-hand seen anyone with offset BJs installed, and I can't recall a thread online with someone that actually had them installed. These axles eat BJs, and most folks are dealing with those same factory C's. I would think most offset options are going to be factory quality?
