Default When to Order

I am looking to purchase a new Sahara Unlimited (first new jeep since my 87 Wrangler Laredo which I owned for 11 years) near the end of August and I want it to have all the options that I want without settling for what's on the lot. What kind of lead time will I need for ordering or would I be better off just doing the search until I find what I want?

I live in NY.

Also, although I loved my first Wrangler and was very reluctant to part with it (kids came), I am now a bit spoiled by all the whistles and bells in my more recent SUVs - heated seats, reverse sensing systems, more plush interiors and ride, but I am curious how the ride, etc. of the new unlimited compares to my old wrangler and todays body-on-frame suvs. Just curious.

Thanks!!

Gerry

There really isnt a comparison to the 87 Wrangler...its night and day. as for ordering Im not patient enough to do it. i wouls shop around until ya find what you want.
They ride alot better ( Just enough like a jeep for us die hards )
It is awesome. more stable. I love mine but i wouldnt try amd compare it to a cadi or tahoe... Less power and not as nice on road. but off road they cant touch her.
Just be realistic She is a jeep and comes with the usual" Jeep things "you would expect.

I want without settling for what's on the lot.
If you are looking for allot of options on your new JK you would probably be better off going ahead and placing an order. The lots don't have allot to choose from. Especially if you are looking at the four door JK.

I know you are looking to buy in Aug. which by then there should be a better selection out there, however, given the popularity of the new 4 door I think they are still going to be limited even then. And since you know when you want it (Aug.), it's not like you will be waiting impatiently during the build like the rest of us who want ours now.

So I say order it and get it exactly the way you want it.
I would allow about 10 to 12 weeks for the order process. That should be realistic for a summer order.

I would not wait too long. If you wait and order too late you might end up with an 08!

Here's a website that can tell you the options being introduced and options being discontinued. Also tell you about model year production ends and begins:
