Smile Where do I start???

Hi all,

First post here so thank you all for having me on the forum. Recently purchased my 2010 JKU and getting to grips with ironing out the kinks (many). After our first attempt to get a once over garage check turned out as usual (lots of naysaying and doom and gloom), we went to another one who, despite not being as bad, also advised we sell it. Of course, I have no intention of ever leaving a man behind, or Jeep for that matter, so I'm hoping to get some pointers to help pinpoint my main effort.
Not a newbie on the mechanical side and have worked over the years on military ute's, 4-tonner trucks and the odd AV. Grateful if anyone can filter out the noise on garage report and help guide me. Thanks in advance team!

Main issues:
1. Parking brake not working (Handbrake works, parking brake not holding)
2. Driver door (RH) window not working (Centre switch making the 'right' click, but not going up or down)
3. Rear seal oil leak.
4. Metal filings found in the transmission lubricant.

Derek.

OK. might be the parking brake cable adjustment or the parking brake shoes are worn out. Pull the rear rotors to inspect / replace if you find the cable thight.
Had similar on the 13 JKU... check if the rear switch operates the window .. I pulled the cover and switch sprayed with WD40 ... Works now NP.
Rear oil seal, that is a pull the axle repair.. requires new seal, bearing and retainer ring.. If you DIY parts alone are around 300 bucks
Metal filing in Trans fluid, depends on the amount.. some is normal if trans never serviced fluid / filter change .. If it shifts ok and correctly probably no problem.

Good luck ,, keep posting.

Awesome, thanks for the reply. I'll be flying home tonight and hope to get onto it Friday. I checked the cable last time and it looked fine; wondering if I might have tightened or loosened the star adjuster on the brake drums last time when I tried adjusting. Will get the wheels off on Friday.
All window switches are working except the front driver side (RHD). I've read it might also have something to do with earth cable not being secured correctly so that will also be first on the fault finding.
RMS will be the bigger project for me, and I'll reply with an update when I get to it. Never a dull moment and plenty of work to occupy my 3 weeks break...
