Where is the engine block heater?
 

I purchased my Jeep last month. It came with the engine block heater (so the window sticker says). I changed my oil last Sunday and looked for the cord or where it goes into the engine block. I can't find either. Can anybody who has the heater tell me where the cord is or where it goes into the engine. The cord should come out somewhere by the grill but I have nothing.

Had mine 2 months found it this weekend . Plug beside battery

See if the cord is coiled up in front of the fuse box, (TIPM).

The heater element is in one of the block plugs on the right side of the engine.

My cord and plug was rolled up by the fuse block.

Why is this an option on the JK?

I honestly have no idea. It was just on mine when I bought it. Heak, I drive a lot of diesel pick ups and the most of the newer ones are not even coming with it as common extra like it used to be on a diesel.

might be because people living south where its +30 degres in january when its -40 up north.. people from south dont need it.. i think it only makes sence...:thinking:

I didn't post the question as I was thinking it. Why is this available on the JK when no other cars offer such an option? The 3.8 is not a.diesel

It is needed in -37c below zero... It's a necessity up here in Canada in the winter. Without it... Good luck getting started. My mustang has one too and it sits in the garage.

Mine starts just fine in -30°F without a block heater.
It's nice to have, but not necessary. My VW TDI even starts with no block heater when it's that cold.
