Whistle noise from brakes? Line issue Master cyl? Any ideas
My sister told me her Jeep is acting up. She told me her brake light came on for a few minutes and went off. A little later she heard a whistling noise that sounded like a belt squeal. I checked her Brake fluid and it was a little low but not empty. (Belt looked good) it's a 2008 Unlimited 4dr. 4x4 with 44K miles. No warranty
I drove the Jeep to town and back and noticed the brakes are soft and I can depress the pedal to stop but it slowly drops to the floor. (Leak or air in lines?)
There is no metal brake squeal or anything like that. On the way back home I heard the whistle sound and I'm pretty sure it's the right front wheel. It really sounds like sucking air whistle not really high pitched but rather subtle.
Anyways, I am taking the Jeep in tomorrow to be checked and have the oil changed. But without knowing what the issue is I don't want to be taken for a ride and have a $1000 bill coming my way! At that cost I may tell my sis to get the extended warranty! If it's lines, master or any warranty covered part.
Any ideas would be great!
Thanks!
