Whoa, where did the time go? (Warranty coverage)
So, the 3/36 bumper to bumper warranty on my 2012 Wrangler is getting ready to lapse in September. 23,890 miles as of today--mostly vacations, wheeling, and adventures, thankfully, so no regrets about not putting enough miles on it yet.
It's never been back to a dealer since it was purchased new. I've done all the required maintenance of course, but it's never had a software update or anything else.
My clock consistently loses time, and I know there's a fix for that. Is there anything else I should be aware of, or ask for, if I take it in to the dealer before the warranty expires in a month? Other than the power mirrors, I don't think there were any other open recalls for the 2012 models?
The ticky cylinder head never failed or set the CEL. Tick..I mean...knock on wood. At least the engine is still covered under the 5/60 powertrain warranty.

You should have gotten a letter in the mail about the engine. The warranty was extended because of the issues people were having. Left cylinder heads are now 10 years / 150k miles. Also do you have an automatic? There was a recall for the power steering line rubbing the auto trans line. There is definitely a fix for the clock. Had that done recently and now it keeps time very well.

No auto, so no rubbing power steering lines, all good there.
Good reminder. I never got a letter about the engine, even though mine is a 2012 model year. Build date 3/12. I guess mine wasn't part of the affected VIN sequence, but it's still audibly ticky on the driver's side. I'll probably bring it up with the dealer anyway, just to confirm coverage. If you are taking it to a good dealership, they will check your VIN for any recall work that hasn't been done. And any recall work has nothing to do with your warranty, if your warranty coverage has lapsed, they will still preform recall work.
Just hit my 3 years, bought my JKU July 2012, and yes you should have got a letter about the "extended" warranty for the possible head issue(ticking) And you should have got one for heated mirrors if you have them.....I just hit 22,500 this month,, and no issues. I guess I'm replying because since day one, my clock is always losing time..Whats the problem, and whats the fix??What does the dealership have to rip apart for this fix...I got Sirius radio, still loses time?
