Default Windows

Is there a way to make the zip-out windows scratch resistant? Is there some sort of clear spray on sealant that can be used?

Thank you,

curious to see, i don't think so. My strong attempt to keep my brand new windows 'clear' failed when i first rolled up the rear window and drove it for a day. Very very scratch prone!

I think we are going to have to resign ourselves that the soft windows are just easy to scratch.

I use a product called Plexus, found at marine/boating stores that is made for soft windows. It is sort of like a wax in that it will help keep dirt from sticking to them so bad and it will reduce the appearance of minor scratches.

I also took the OCD approach of only taking my windows out when they are clean. I will carry a spray bottle of mild soap solution and a micro fiber rag to clean the windows before removing them and I then roll them between layers of soft fabric and put them in a nylon bag, my homemade version of the Clover Patch window roll.

In 3 summers of use, my windows still look pretty good, with the worst areas from the first time I removed the windows on the road before I had thought about getting a roll / bag to store the windows.

Other people will just consider the scratches as the cost of having fun with the soft top and not worry about it.

Default 10 years and no scratches or hazing on my plastic windows

1. Never, never fold/roll them dirty
2. Always roll them in a clean soft beach towel
3. Periodically clean/polish them with plexus or something similar

Take them off and leave them in the house

Seriously try Pledge, the kind you dust with.

I've been wanting to get a soft top with windows and I was wondering the same. Does the 303 protectent do anything for the windows?

Complete hijack - how do you roll up the windows? There's the stiff portion on the side and the tough plastic on the bottom where it connects with the body. Does one of those slide out or something?

I do the same thing and mine look great! Although I went to the local fabric store and bought three sections of fleece material large enough to wrap around each window rather than a beach towel. It cost be $15 but it's black so it matches the interior carpet.

I like that idea. Could probably even find different prints of sports team or something too. Seems like I've seen that stuff at Wally World.

I roll the windows in the long direction, rolling the tough plastic part that connects with the body, keeping the stiff part that fits into the door surrounds straight. I keep the minimum diameter of the roll larger than ~5 inches. I bought an unused softtop from another jeeper that bought a dual top and the windows came in a box, rolled uup in the same direction with paper between each window.
