I'm pretty certain any film you put on any window goes on the interior surface. Same with tint. It would get destroyed pretty fast if it was on the outside.

Not completely true. I saw a product at the SEMA show that installs on the outside of the windshield to protect from rock hits. I'll dig through all the pamphlets and post back.

Motorcyclists can get a plastic/silicone shield for their glass headlights, surely they can make the same product for our windshields. My TJs used to take rock strikes very well without chipping or cracking.

Default Cost of windshield

Had a guy once tell me not to go with the cheapest windshield option. I didn't know there were multiple options. Thought he was just up selling me. Still not 100% sure, but did have a windshield that took a ton of abuse after trying it. Then I upgraded to a newer Jeep. Have a crack. Will try the process again. Maybe I am just being taken advantage of... but seemed like a pretty reputable shop. And if I remember correctly the difference in cost was maybe 20% or so?

Just got quoted $350 for aftermarket vs. $498 for Jeep OEM. Getting the aftermarket. We'll see what happens.

I went with Safelite and it was like $275. I have had it for a few months and it has taken a few hard shots and has held up better than the stock one.

I'm on windshield #3 in my '13 JK also. Any recommendations on the deflector? Mopar or are there better ones out there?
