Default Wipers freeze

Does anyone else have issues with their wipers freezing during winter time? I purchased my jk in fall with no issues but now that its winter and its getting cold enough for ice, water is draining down the vent on the cowl like it is suppose to but its freezing up the wiper rods and motor. It was all solid ice the wiper arms could not move and froze on me in the middle of driving down the highway during a snow storm. I had to unbolt the cowl panel and chisel away as much ice as I could and kept pouring hot water down the vent to free the motor and rods up. I never had this happen to my YJ or CJ the wiper motor and rods were located inside of the windshield not down in the firewall drain, I have no clue what gave jeep the idea to put the wiper motor there and let water drain on it. I'm starting to regret my decision to buying a newer jeep I don't want my wipers to keep freezing on me while driving its kinda dangerous, does anyone know if there is something I can buy to reroute the water that drains on top the wiper motor and rods?

What year is your JK?
Does your cowl vent have a screen under the slots?

The wiper motor and linkages under the cowl have never frozen on my '08.

Post a picture looking down on the cowl slots and I'll compare it to mine to see if there is any difference.

I've had the blades freeze up during freezing rain but never an issue in snow or with the linkage freezing.

The cowl vent does have a screen under the slots and my jk is a 2012.
