I have an `08 Wrangler Sahara stick with trailer package. Does that mean my axle ration is 3.7 instead of 3.2 if I had not taken the trailer tow package?

 

well i know for the 07 the tow package came with 4.10s, im not sure about the 08s. I do know about the 08s that the stock gears are now 3.73s so if the tow package is still 4.10 it shouldnt be that much of a difference.

Any more knowledgeable members feel free to correct me if im wrong

 

The axles with the towing package and/or the automatic are 3.73s, unless you had a Rubicon in which case you would get 4.10s. If you ordered a 6spd without the towing package, you would have been able to choose between the 3.21s and the 3.73s.

For what it's worth, I had the 3.21s in my '07 and switched them for the 4.10s. I had no power when pulling hills and decided that the small sacrifice in fuel would be worth it.

 

I have a 07 JK with factory tow package, 4.10 rear end, I think they changed this in the 08 model.

 

If you have a MY2008 Sahara with the tow package then you have 3.73 gears.

 

THATS CORRECT 3.73 IN MY 08 SAHARA WITH TOW PACKAGE.. WISH THEY STILL OFFERED THE 4.10s BUT NOT FOR 08. UNLESS ITS A RUBI.. HOPE TO GET BY WITH THEM FOR A WHILE WITH MY 35s.. GUESS ILL FIND OUT WHEN I GET THEM ON.. MINES ONLY GETTING ABOUT 14 mpg IN TOWN 2 DOOR AUTO NO LIFT YET.. 3 INCH BLACK DIAMOND ON THE WAY..

 

Yes, probably well documented by now, but 3.21 with manual transmission, 3.73 with automatic and the tow package upgrades to 3.73 in the manual. Just having 3.73 vs 3.21 does not mean less mpg for sure as other factors are involved.
