Thats why I ordered the Tow package, just to be safe.
Sounds like the D35 is the standard rear for the 2 dr, and if you order Tow Pk. you get the D44 with 4.10's. My guess work was eliminated, my 4door "X" had the Tow Pk. so I have D44/4.10.
I just put a thread in Mod's questioning a Rear Locker option and Wayoflife give me a scare on the salty cost. Now I'm needing info on some sort of Diso's either Elec or Manual, cost and how hard to install. I think what I've seen the "X" do in some vid's without Trac Loc(I have Trac Loc) the Diso's would be a great Mod for me. What do you think.

The little cheater book used to order Jeeps is contradictory, and so is the website.
X 2dr - D35 Rear
X 2dr w/tow pkg or limited slip - D44
X 4dr - D44 Rear

I think I read on another JK forum that the dana 35 rear is on its way out for good. The dana 44 was a no cost upgrade. I guess DC decided it was not worth it?

Another question for you all. I thought I had read that a TruLok rear locking differential would be a late option for Sahara and X Dana 44 rears.

Is this the same locking differential that is standard in the Rubicons? This is not the optional trac-loc that you can get now.

The disconnecting sway bar will also be an option on Sahara and X models. So I guess the main difference from a Sahara and X to a Rubicon is the Dana 30 open front end (the aftermarket will handle this), the higher low-range ratio, and.....what....rockrails, which people change, tires and wheels, which people change, seats, which people change or put covers on.

Does it make more sense to buy a Rubicon if you will keep it stock and buy and X with some options if you plan on swapping stuff when you get it home?

Thanks.

Not sure about DCX doing away with the D35 forever but I sure hope so. The tru loc isn't the same as the Rubicon locker. The Rubicon has a selectable locker, the Tru loc isn't one. The Rubicon also has a D44 front end with a locker in it too, Sahara and X's don't even get that option. As far as the best one to buy, what kind of wheeling do you plan on doing, and how much work do you want to do to get there. If you don't want to have to upgrade everything but wanna wheel pretty hard, get the Rubi. If your like me, sticking to mild stuff for now and do a gradual build, the X is a pretty good starting point.

Just my 2 cents
