Crazy trade
Anybody have an automatic 2012 and want to trade transmission with me. I have a band new manual and my wife can't get the hang of it. I want to convert to automatic.
Thanks.
Thanks.
Ha, you be better off asking if someone wants to swap complete vehicles! Actually, it would probably be easier and cheaper to take an afternoon, find an empty parking lot and let your wife spend the afternoon learning to drive a standard!
When I was dating my wife (33 years ago) I taught her to drive a standard by going to a car lot, test driving a manual transmission car, then went to an empty parking lot and put her behind the wheel. 30 minutes later she was driving it back to the car lot. We toss the salesman the keys, thanked him, and drove off in my car (that had a stick). The new clutch and transmission is much easier than the older ones, it shouldn't be hard to teach her.
When we were looking for our current Jeep, she had mentioned getting an automatic, I wanted a standard, but we test drove both. Drove the standard first and then the auto. After driving the auto, she said it was boring and the rest is history! Once you teach her to drive the standard you both will be much happier!

I'm glad I started early in my relationship with my wife and made knowing how to drive a standard a must! I taught her and she can still drive a standard today. She prefers an automatic in her car, but is fully capable of driving my JK. When we were looking, she mentioned an automatic due to stop and go traffic here in Atlanta, so we test drove one after test driving the manual, just to see the difference. She said it was boring driving the Automatic, so we got a standard! Trust me, it's worth the investment in teaching your wife/girl friend how to drive a standard!
Our daughter won't own a standard, says only wimps drive standards! She bought an automatic one time because her boy friend at the time didn't know how to drive a standard, neither the boy friend nor the car lasted a year!
