Default doorless ticket ?

is doorless illegal in BC on provincial and municipal roads ? I drove to Harrison hot springs and a RCMP there came up to me when I was parked and said if he saw me driving I would get a $ 109 ticket for not having doors!!! He said any jeep newer than an '86 warrants this ticket. He cut me a break and didn't give me one. He said external mirrors make no difference. Is he bull shitting ?

its not b.s. - - it's illegal, i'll get you the section etc.. if you really want to know.

also, how is the cop letting him know its illegal, and not giving him a ticket being a prick?

I drive around doorless in our unlimited with my kids in carseats and have the mirrors....and no ticket yet cops around the interior are pretty good.

If you look up on the hardtop it states the doors are not for safety anyways???? What makes the 86 and older Jeep Wranglers different from the JK's???? I will drive doorless again this summer with mirrors.

Section 219(1) MVA - No doors (if original equipment) =$109 fine

I suppose that you could order older jeeps without doors, therefore making it legal.

Just because you don't get pulled over when you drive with no doors doesn't mean that its not illegal.. after all, you don't get a ticket every time you speed

EDIT: The whole mirrors issue is just another "offense" which you could get a ticket for, it has nothing to do with the doors.

example:

MVAR 7.04(2) - No driver side mirror (from 1974 model year) = $109
MVAR 7.04(3) - No right mirror (interior mirror inadequate) = $109

That's why most RCMP/cops give you a little benefit of usually 10km/hr over the speed limit Unless you meet up with an anal cop.

This is why I have not been pulled over for no doors....they give me that benefit that it's a Wrangler and they know the doors can come off the Wrangler and they notice that I have passenger/driver mirrors attached to the hinge.

That's the same sort of thing a cop told me here in Manitoba.

It states the vehicle has to have the factory equipped doors attached, whether full or half...whatever it came equipped from the factory with...but I mean obviously if you have half doors you swapped up for you know that wouldn't be a problem.
I researched this last summer when I was visiting family out there.

up for interpretation (like a lot of motor vehicle related laws), but I'd say no - - after all, you do have a door.
