Awesome write up Steve! I am reading up about Diesel swaps too.. And believe it or nor, there is a company in Surrey, BC, who put TDi VW engines in a jeep. With smth like 220 hp and 285 tq. But it's a 1.9L turbo that gives 13l/100 kms on a modded jeep! So far they are doing swaps on CJ/YJ/TJ only. But I'm sure they will come up with smth for JK's soon too.

That's a pretty lame law. What's the reasoning with the emissions? I find it hard to believe a diesel JK would be any worse on the environment that a semi or big Dodge diesel.....

The emission requirements are based on vehicle class. The JK falls into the same emission class as passenger cars.
