Howdy, Neighbours. New Owner in BC here...
Hello, friends.
And thanks for welcoming me to your forum!
After spending the entire summer dedicating countless hours to my TJ Rubicon obsession - researching on the internet, reading magazine articles, calling Jeep and Off-Road specialty shops, and 7 or 8 test-drives, I finally saw the light after driving a modified 2008 JK two weeks ago.
Yesterday I purchased my first Jeep.
A gorgeous Steel Blue Metallic 08 Rubi which they were clearing out to make room for the 09s.
Got a nice deal too!
It's on a trailer from Alberta and headed for the coast.
I look fwd to learning about the mild mods I have planned, perhaps getting to know a few of you, being part of the Jeep culture, and most of all, using my Jeep for what it's built to do.
I'm not afraid to put a few scratches in 'er on the trails!
No pretty city-Jeep here!
Best regards, and thank you JK-Forum for the contest and excellent site.

Hey man,
Very nice rig choice! 2door, I assume?
For trails, I don't know the Duncan area well but am starting to get to know around Port Alberni/Nanaimo Lakes. Problem is there are a LOT of gates on the south island now due to the TFLs being sold off to the timber companies. Still, there are ways around them
I'm just learning the area myself (moved here in May). What mods do you have planned???
Cheers.

Hello.
Thanks for the msg.
Yes, it's a 2-door.
I love the fact that they made a 4-door, but I really don't need one.
I'd like to add a mild lift and some 33s, a winch and bumpers.
But that's all gotta wait until I've got the $$$.
This is a huge expense for me, but I think it will be worth it.
We'll keep in touch.
Cheers

Hi, Steve.
Thanks for the msg.
Ya, I'm pretty excited about this.
It is a massive expense for me, but it's time to start enjoying my life again.
Sometimes you just gotta treat yourself!
I've done a little wheeling on the Island, where I'm from.
That was a long time ago.
Had an '88 Dodge Ramcharger.
Now live in flat, boring, Richmond BC
Most of my trail time has been spent on a mountain bike, honestly.
I've had dirt bikes in the past also, but long ago.
I like hiking too. The Jeep will give me access to some off-the-beaten-path spots.
I'm an aviation geek .
Would like to find some old wrecks, as my friend in SAR has all the files including coordinates on every one in BC.
I've got a lot to learn about off-roading, including where to do it.
Maybe we could hook up someday?
Nice ride you've got there.
Those 35s will prevent me from following you on a lot of terrain, I suppose.
I'm looking fwd to some mild mods for mine.
A lift, bumpers, winch.....
But this is at least a year down the road, when I have a few $$$ for that.
Cheers

Just last summer I got a 2dr steel blue rubi as well! 07 model though. slightly used. So far I have the mods you can see in my sig. Sounds pretty similar to what you want to do. I'm not around vancouver right now (away for university) but come summer i'll be back with the jeep. It would be great to see another 2dr steel blue rubi on the roads!
Nicely done mods there!
We'll have to keep in touch.
Great choice on the colour.
;-)
Study hard.
