Trails to see?
Hey all. Got some quick questions. In a little less then two weeks, the soon to be wife and I will be heading on our little honeymoon/road triip to Banff. Driving from Brandon MB. Pretty much following the Trans Can.
Now what I am wondering, and I have tried to google it as much as possible, are there any good scenic trails that could be found along the way? Anything up near Banff, with some good shots of mountains in the background? Something near Drumheller maybe?
We are trying to decide if we should take the Patriot or the JK. Is there anything worth checking out with the JK?
Any tips would be awesome!

For sure take Highway 1A from Cochrane to Canmore and if you have time...take the 1A from Banff to Lake Louise...Great Mountain Scenery, photo opportunities and hiking trails.
Also, K-Country (Kananaskis) - I have driven all these roads and they all have some great views. A few options: if time allows
Option 1:Highway 40
Goes From: Longview, AB to highway 1 (Between Canmore & Calgary)
Longview is about 1hr south of Calgary.
Option 2: Smith Dorian/Spray lakes road - part of
(Peter Lougheed/Bow Valley/Spray Lakes Provincial parks)
Goes from: Canmore to Highway 40 which will lead you to Longview, AB
Option 3: Powderface Road
Goes from: Bragg Creek, AB to Highway 1 (Sibbald Flats)
If you need maps just download them at:

Drumheller is kind of a neat area if you really are into Dinosaurs.
If you are totally into 4x4ing go to McLean Creek in K-country near Bragg Creek!
Hope this helps!

Its been said befor but I will say again. there is no 4x4 in Banff national park.
The 1A from Calgary to Canmore is a nice drive lots of bikers on it. 1A from banff to lack louise is great too. If time permits go to Jasper on the ice feild parkway, or go to Invermier both nice drives. Anything in K-country is a nice drive. If staying in Banff, make sure that you go up and see lake Miniwanka/ two jack lack, drive the tunnel mountain road, go around the golf course at Banff springs. You can go into Banff springs hotel and have a drink, very nice I would recomend that if nothing else. Take the Jk because if its warm out there is nothing finner then having the top down in the montains, unless your on a motorcycle. Congrats and have fun

This is along 1A from Banff to Lake Louise, the Castle Mountain Cliffs. My Jeep's in the bottom right of the picture!!

as for where else to go:
I'd vote for a beer stop at "St. James Gate" in Banff, they have tons of different beers on tap.
Moraine Lake, it's on the back of the old $20 bills. Awesome scenery and a nifty little drive to get there, it's right by Lake Louise. and it's free
The Sulphur Mountain gondola in Banff is worth the $8 for the ride up. Here's a pic I took a few years ago

those are my some of my favorite's, but I usually travel to Banff on a tight budget, and I like low brow places
