Back up lights. Yes that EVO tire carrier does work with a 40. And yes to can off road it with out rattle or falling off.

Mel,

Do you have a video somewhere showing what it's like to open the tire carrier to get into the back of the Jeep? I really dig that setup. I know it's way overkill for my needs but I love it. My only issue is my JK is a daily driver and I access the back of my Jeep 3-4 time a day mininum.

Thank you for this thread and thanks for your time in advance.

EVO built this tire carrier with strength being top priority. You do have to remove two pins everytime to open it. If your main concern is Ease of opening, I reccommend a tire carrier that swings out with the tail gate like Expedition One or AEV. They WILL NOT BE AS STRONG as the Evo but they work well for the average rig not trying to support a 40 inch tire in extreme situations.
