Racing an Airplane Is Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT’s Toughest Test

The guys over at Auto Express certainly thought outside of the box when it came to this Grand Cherokee SRT test. We already know how it compares to other performance SUVs, but how does it stack up to an airplane? The airplane in question is a specialty-built stunt plane, built for speed and agility, but can it keep up with the 392 Hemi-powered Jeep?

To find out, Auto Express took both to Blyton Park for a few laps of the circuit to see which one was fastest. While the test itself might not be terribly relevant to everyday commuting, watching the Jeep hucking around the circuit does make for some very entertaining video. For its size and weight, the Jeep handles quite well. It even lifts a tire or two while going around a bend. The demonstration does prove something quite relevant though: if you want a genuinely fast SUV, you don’t have to go for the high-dollar Porsche or Land Rover variants. American brute force gets the job done just as well, at a far lower price tag.
