Default M-416 style trailer build

I started a trailer build - ultimately, it will be a M-416 style box (enlarged to 4x6), with a top. I built the frame to be more stylish than the original basic ladder frame, and incorporated some nerf-bar protection for the fenders, with marker lights. The front of the frame is also extended 1-foot beyond the box footprint to allow for propane tanks, coolers and/or other gear. I used 9ga expanded metal for the decking on these areas for easy tie-down. The box components are supposed to be ready this week - it will have a tailgate.

Looks good, been thinking of doing something similar. Would you mind doing a write up when your done. As I just want to build it, not think. Lol

Edit: I just read the rest of your post. I would be interested in a box kit. Let me know price.

Thanks, Lance

Thumbs up Progress!

Got the parts Friday and spent the weekend assembling and welding. Overall I am happy with the progress and as I suspected, the most attention will be spent working out the tailgate functionality, hinges, latches and alignment.

Default Primer

So I got primer on the main parts - and have the fenders built - they are removable / bolt-on.
They are not attached at this point as the primer was still not dry. I'll be working on the tailgate this weekend and hopefully be disassembling for paint.

I plan to use a spray-on bedliner, and will be covering it inside and out. White on the outside, black on the inside to match my white Sahara...

Anybody have experience with this product?

Default Bedliner

Ok - so I finished up the tailgate hinges and latches, and used the LinerXtreeme brand bed liner (Ebay) to coat the inside and bottom of the tub. It was a mess to work with, but turned out great - looks better than my professionally done truck bed! Will be spraying the same stuff in white on the outside.

Thinking about the top now - I know airplane wings use thin "spars" as stringers. I am thinking something along the same lines for the top - anybody care to chime in? Effectively, the same unit could be cut for the ends and the spars - maybe insert holes (2" diameter) in the inside ones for pole storage, and attach points for storing items in the top space.
