Carpod Hitch Cage
Here are some photos of my new hitch cage:
Happy Birthday to me. I live in the desert, so I almost never have the top on. An annoying downside to living topless is not being able to leave stuff in the Jeep when I stop at the store, etc. I got the locking lid, so no worries. It's not a vault, mind you, but I'd trust it while I run into the Home Depot.
Because the rear tire protrudes from the vehicle, I had to use a hitch extender. I think this one is 6"--it worked perfectly.
My rear tire is in a gutter, so it makes the cage look lower than it is.
The Carpod has reflectors on every side, but they're too small for my liking. I'm going to use 3M reflective tape to make it more obvious at night.
It's a good fit for the JK. The rear gate won't open while the sides of the cage are erected (it will with the cage collapsed).
I'm fairly happy with the purchase.

that's great for camping in public spaces!
I'm thinking maybe build some base with wheels for if you want to leave it somewhere while you go wheelin'
where did you get it?

I got it on Amazon for $299. The locking lid is an additional $49.

I don't know if I want that though. I can get a waterproof storage container from Home Depot that would suit my needs.

Harbor Freight has one very similar to that; The wire sides fold flat on the carrier, and it comes with a waterproof cover. Yours is probably heavier duty, the Harbor Freight is much lighter in price.
