Guess I could have had more info. I'm contemplating moving up to 35's and doing a delete plate to just carrying a spare in the cargo area when out wheeling. Thought I'd see how many others are running that setup and how they like it rather than spending $500-$1,000 on a tire carrier or bumper/carrier.

When I originally deleted it I mainly wheeled at Badlands park since it was local and there just are not that many open lands in the East. I kept my spare with my other gear in the parking lot and if I should have an issue it was easy to just drive to the parking lot and pick up what was needed. Out here you need to carry everything with you including the spare tire. I would just throw it in the tub and go. I have since built a carrier into my cage so it is up and out of the way but only carry it when wheeling. If you are limited on space in the back then mounted carrier makes sense. I never felt that limited with space with a 40 in the tub (no back seat).

That mount for the tire looks awesome! Thanks for the input... less than $100 for a cover and removal of spare tire for daily driving is a lot easier on the wallet than $500 for a new tire carrier.

I used this template that someone posted on this forum. Sent it to a local guy with a plasma table. Had to drill the holes a little bigger but otherwise fits great. I used a couple rubber washer and a couple metal ones to create the gap for ventilation. I keep the spare flat, strapped in the cargo area now. Planning on mounting standing to one side somehow when I get the time.
