2008 JK front axle/differential housing
My son had a "little" accident running over a tall side walk (Don't ask....)and it cracked the differential housing... It is a 2008 JK... Will a housing off a 2015 fit?

Yes it will. If you have a rubicon then you want to ensure you're replacing it with a D44. If you have a non-rubicon than a D30 will work. Just make sure the gear ratios match if you aren't swapping internals between the two.
And what exactly happened?

Thanks... Its a D30... found a 2015 one for $900. Complete with all the internals. I do have higher gears that will need to swap but right now not looking at investing more than I have to.
He was probably in his phone distracted (that is my theory) and took a turn too wide and went over the sidewalk hard with the front right side and the housing literally cracked all around.

If your son offroads at all, it might be a good time to look at a front 44 upgrade. You could even start with a bare housing and build it later as time and money allow, since he can't use 4wd anyway until it gets regeared.

There is a pic in the first post in this one, says he went onto a sidewalk at 20mph. Clean break around the passenger side ca mounts, which I assume is what ramirer will indicate.
